Armia was one of seven players cut by the Sabres on Tuesday.

Analysis:

Armia was a long-shot to make the team and his demotion the AHL is no surprise. The talented Finnish sniper had a frustrating rookie season last year, scoring just seven goals in 53 games for the Amerks last year. He needs to work on his core strength before he can compete in the NHL. Armia will likely stay in Rochester for the whole season as he continues to get acclimated to North America. He is expected to be one of the Amerks' top offensive forwards.
