Flyers' Giroux could make preseason debut Tuesday vs. Rangers

Eric Hartline / USA TODAY Sports

Should Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux survive Tuesday's morning skate, the team expects the Hart Trophy finalist to make his preseason debut that night against the New York Rangers.

Giroux was expected to be out two weeks after suffering a lower-body injury at the start of Philadelphia's camp, but returned to practice a week ahead of schedule and appears to be on a fast-track toward the season opener.

If he fails to skate in the home half of a back-to-back with the Rangers, Giroux will have one more opportunity to taste preseason action Thursday against the Washington Capitals.
