Dany Heatley: (Groin) Out At Least One Week

Heatley suffered a groin injury during Sunday's preseason contest and will be out for a minimum of one week, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

Analysis:

The injury puts Heatley's availability for the Oct. 9 regular season opener against the Penguins in serious jeopardy, but perhaps more significantly, it could end coach Bruce Boudreau's experiment with Heatley on the top line next to Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. With Heatley unable to practice Monday, Patrick Maroon occupied the top left wing spot, and would likely do so for as long as Heatley remains sidelined.
