When it comes to dodging untimely forward injuries in the preseason, the Detroit Red Wings aren't exactly Neo from the Matrix. In the case of promising sophomore forward Gustav Nyquist, who left a preseason game against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night following a knee-on-knee hit, the Detroit Red Wings finally appear to have dodged a bullet:

Though Nyquist's injury doesn't appear to be 'significant'. his right knee is apparently still sore according to Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Sports Daily, and the club will wait until Monday before making a more detailed plan for his recovery.

"(Red Wings team doctor Douglas) Plagens said there was no significant injury," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told the Detroit Free Press on Sunday afternoon. "I'm assuming he's sore, but Gus hasn't reached out to anybody saying his knee has ballooned up.

"It looked scary at the time but the initial word is that it looks like a day-to-day, short-term injury."
