1995 - Bruins play final game at Boston Garden

The legendary Boston Garden closes its doors the way it opened them 67 years prior: with a game between the Bruins and Montreal Canadiens.

The two teams play a final preseason matchup in the old barn, which doesn't have air conditioning, ahead of the 1995-96 season. The New Jersey Devils eliminated the Bruins from postseason contention four months earlier in the final official game at the site.

A post-game ceremony sees the Stanley Cup banners and retired numbers taken down from the arena's rafters with Bruins legends, including Bobby Orr, on hand for a final lap.

The Bruins move into the TD Garden Arena, where they eventually add a sixth Stanley Cup banner to the five they brought from 150 Causeway St.
