Brown is making his case to be a member of the team's fourth-line when the regular season opens up in October, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.

Analysis:

Brown, acquired from the Phoenix Coyotes in March as part of the package for disgruntled winger Martin Erat, played well on the team's fourth-line while splitting time between the Capitals and AHL Hershey. The injury to Tom Wilson may have opened a door for Brown and Michael Latta to open the season with the Capitals, but the competition is tough with Jay Beagle and Aaron Volpatti as veterans in the mix for one of the remaining bottom-six spots. In any case, Brown isn't likely to have much fantasy value outside of very deep leagues unless he gets a more prominent role in the lineup.
