Derek Stepan: Hurts Leg Wednesday
Stepan took a hard fall on the ice during his conditioning test Wednesday and required assistance off the ice, Larry Brooks of the New York Post reports. He was seen clutching his left leg before being helped off.
Analysis:
Stepan took the conditioning test in an attempt to receive clearance to resume practice after he was held out of the team's scrimmage with a left foot contusion. It now appears he has a much more serious injury to contend with, though it remains too early to speculate how much time he might miss. It would seem particularly troubling that Stepan fell to the ice despite not taking contact, perhaps suggesting some instability in his knee. Expect the Rangers to relay further information on his condition in the coming days.
