Analysis:

The Penguins continue to bring Malkin along slowly as he recovers from an undisclosed injury suffered prior to training camp. He did not play in Monday's preseason opener, and it remains to be seen when he'll return to the ice. Pittsburgh certainly won't rush its star back, but the hope is that he'll be able to see some exhibition action prior to the regular season opener October 9 against the Ducks. At this point, there is no concern that the injury will sideline Malkin long-term.
