1972 - Game 5 of the 1972 Summit Series

Thirteen days after the Soviet Union skates to its third victory on away ice, the legendary 1972 Summit Series shifts to Moscow, where the home side pushes Team Canada to the brink.

The Soviet Union rallies from a three-goal deficit in the third period, scoring five in the final frame to take a 3-1-1 advantage in the eight-game showcase series with the final three contests to be played in Russia.

Paul Henderson is the star for Canada despite a devastating crash into the boards. He is diagnosed with a concussion, but refuses to take the doctor's advice, scoring his second goal and third point of the game on his next shift.

His heroics aren't enough in Game 5, but Henderson shakes off the effects of his head injury to remain in the lineup over the next three games.

And we know how that turns out.

1994 - Flyers re-acquire Ron Hextall

The Philadelphia Flyers bring back the goaltender who best exemplifies the Flyer brand, re-acquiring Ron Hextall in a trade with the New York Islanders for Tommy Soderstrom.

After splitting crease duties that season, Hextall rediscovers his Vezina Trophy form in 1995, winning 62 games in 105 appearances across two seasons.

Hextall joins the Flyers' front office as a scout in 1999, eventually ascending to his current post as general manager.
