Richards to center Kane, Saad in training camp, preseason

Now this is what Brad Richards had in mind.

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville told reporters that the New York Rangers castoff will center Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad in camp, and the expectation is that the trio will start the season comprising the team's second line.

"He'll be playing with (Saad) and (Kane)," Quenneville told reporters Thursday. "I think the three of them have all different attributes to make that line successful, and I think Brad is excited about being here as well.

"It could be a great fit. We'll find out how it works out early in the preseason and hopefully it will start out like that in the regular season. If we don't change it, we know we got a good line"

Richards signed a modest $2-million contract to join the powerhouse Hawks after having his contract bought out by the Rangers in June.
