Avs coach Patrick Roy said at Thursday's training camp session that the Tanguay is slated to open the season as the right wing on the first line, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

If that ends up being the case, it could be a boon for Tanguay, who would be placed alongside Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon on a line full of offensive firepower. Even at the tail end of his career, Tanguay has shown an aptitude for collecting points, but staying healthy could prove problematic. Knee and hip issues limited him to 16 games last season, and he also missed a total of 26 contests across the previous two campaigns. There's still plenty of risk with Tanguay, but the prospect of playing with MacKinnon could greatly outweigh it.
