Report: Sami Salo recovering from wrist injury, still wants to play this season

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

Veteran blueliner Sami Salo is undeterred; he wants to play into his 40s.

Salo, who turned 40 two weeks ago, had his two-year stint with the Tampa Bay Lightning end without general manager Steve Yzerman offering an extension.

The oft-injured veteran of 15 NHL seasons contributed 17 points, a plus-11 rating and 52.1 Corsi For percentage in 71 games last season.
