DeKeyser, a restricted free agent, has yet to reach an agreement on a new contract with the Red Wings a week before training camp commences, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Analysis:

The two sides have tried to find common ground on a deal for two months, putting DeKeyser at risk of missing the beginning of training camp. It appears the major roadblock in getting a deal done has been the Red Wings' inability to find a comparable market rate to work as launching point for a contract, since the 24-year-old DeKeyser has only 76 carer games on his ledger. Given the team's lack of quality depth on defense, expect the Red Wings to bring DeKeyser back into the fold before or shortly after the season opener.
