Jets' Wheeler: Kane's response to comments about leadership made in jest, misinterpreted
Winnipeg Jets forward Blake Wheeler was in damage control mode Wednesday, making assurances that Evander Kane's Twitter comment, a response to Wheeler's suggestion Tuesday that Kane needs to play a bigger leadership role this season, was written in jest.

As per the Globe and Mail, "Wheeler repeated that he believes Kane is a player who has the ability to help the Jets get to the next level as they try once again to reach the playoffs in 2014."
It is by no means a stretch for Wheeler to suggest that all hands need to be on deck in order for the club to be in the running for its first playoff spot since moving to Winnipeg, however, the sensitive nature of Kane's relationship with the city necessitated the clarification.
