Sekera said Wednesday that he's fully recovered from his April abdominal surgery, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Analysis:

Despite missing eight games due to injury, Sekera turned in the best season of his career in his first campaign in Carolina, netting 11 goals and 33 assists to go along with a plus-4 rating. Though he'll seemingly enter 2014-15 with his health intact, Sekera's modest offensive output during his prior six seasons in Buffalo should give fantasy players pause in paying for last season's numbers. It's probably within his abilities to make another run at 40 points, but there's an equally good chance he played over his head last season based on what his larger career sample size would suggest. He'll open the year on the Canes' top pairing alongside Justin Faulk.
