After six weeks of silence, the Blue Jackets front office is expected to resume negotiations with Johansen's agent, Kurt Overhardt, during this weekend's Traverse City prospect tournament, the Columbus Dispatch reports. "The last time they contacted us, (the offer) wasn't something that merited further talks," Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said.

Analysis:

The two sides are said to be $3 million per year apart, although they have agreed in principle on a two-year contract. The Blue Jackets' training camp begins September 17, and if Johansen isn't under contract by then he'll be officially considered a holdout. He has been in Columbus the last two weeks participating in voluntary practices, however, so if he does sign over the next few days Johansen won't be behind in his conditioning.
