Methot's agent Larry Kelly has not had any discussions with the Senators regarding a contract extension in the past two weeks, and no meetings are currently scheduled, the Ottawa Sun reports. He is currently making $3 million but is looking for a five-year, $27.5 million deal, similar to the one Brooks Orpik got from the Capitals this summer.

Analysis:

Coming off a career year, Methot is trying to parlay his best season into a pay raise. He played in a career-high 75 games last season, recording six goals and 17 assists, also career highs. If the two sides can't come to an agreement soon, it'll be interesting to see if Methot shows up to camp in two weeks or decides to hold out.
