Jets, Nikolaj Ehlers agree to terms on 3-year, $4.875M entry-level contract

The Winnipeg Jets signed forward prospect Nikolaj Ehlers to a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual valuation of $1.625 million, as per the team's official website.

Ehlers drafted ninth overall by the Jets at the 2014 NHL Draft, recorded 49 goals and 55 assists in 63 games in his first season with the QMJHL's  Halifax Mooseheads, added 11 goals and 17 assists in 16 playoff games, and was named the CHL's rookie of the year for 2013-14

His 49 goals were the most by a Quebec League rookie since some guy named Sidney Crosby.

The 18-year-old was also named Best Professional Prospect by the QMJHL, and represents the hope of brighter days ahead for the Jets and their fans.
