Lightning's Killorn on last season: 'We expected a lot more in the playoffs'

The Tampa Bay Lightning's 2013-14 season ended abruptly with a four-game sweep at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the playoffs.

Tampa had high hopes of advancing significantly further in the postseason, but an injury suffered by goaltender Ben Bishop opened a gaping hole in the crease that the Lightning proved unable to overcome.

Forward Alex Killorn, who signed a two-year, $5.1-million contract extension with the team this summer, has high hopes for the Lightning this season, but knows his team will be in a battle just to make it back to the playoffs.

"I know we had a good season last year, but we expected a lot more in the playoffs," he said. "We still have a bit of a bad taste in our mouths about that."

Killorn scored 41 points in 82 games last season, spending parts of it on a line with Steven Stamkos.

"He is one of the best players in the League; it's exciting," Killorn told NHL.com. "He's a shooter, so you're just trying to do what you can to get him the puck and get him opportunities."

With Stamkos and Bishop back at full strength, the Lightning will be seeking a better playoff outcome this season.
