Sharks' Couture on outdoor game: I 'always hoped we would get one'

The San Jose Sharks will host their first outdoor game at the Coors Light Stadium Series against the Los Angeles Kings at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. in February.

The game will be the second outdoor game played in California, as the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings played at Dodger Stadium last season.

Sharks center Logan Couture was hoping for an outdoor game, and was pleased with the league's decision to award Northern California with a stadium series game.

Excited and looking forward to it," he told the San Jose Mercury News via NHL.com. "I've watched most of the outdoor games and have always hoped we would get one."

The Sharks chief operating officer John Tortora was excited by the news as well explaining this game will do more for the organization than the fans.

"The exposure that we're going to get, not only for us but for the city of San Jose, is tremendous...There is a halo effect that happens when you host these games.

"We'll get media exposure across the U.S. and Canada," he said. "That's going to lead to perhaps additional sponsorship, perhaps more season-ticket holders over time, just more general interest in the sport of hockey and the Sharks, which is positive."
