Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Panthers signed restricted free agent defenseman Dmitry Kulikov to a three-year contract extension Friday, the club announced. The deal's worth a reported $13 million, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. He'd know.

Kulikov, 23, was drafted in the first round, 14th overall by the Panthers in 2009, and had eight goals and 11 assists in 81 games last season, while averaging over 21:30 in ice time. His 51.4 percent Corsi For rating last season was the highest of his career.

He has 99 points in 313 career games over five years in Florida.

Kulikov's $4.33 million average salary makes him the second-highest paid defender on the team, behind Brian Campbell.
