Islanders re-sign Calvin de Haan to 3-year deal worth reported $5.9M

The New York Islanders signed defenseman Calvin de Haan to a three-year deal Tuesday, worth a reported $5.9-million as per Arthur Staple of Newsday.

de Haan registered three goals and 13 assists in 51 games as a rookie this past season, averaging 21:01 of ice time per game, good for third among all Islanders' defensemen. 

He also posted an impressive 52.2 Corsi For at even strength (via Extra Skater).

de Haan, 23, was selected 12th overall in the 2009 NHL Draft and is expected to be a big piece of the team's seemingly bright future.
