Canucks' Vey to accept $735K qualifying offer, says agent

Acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings on Day 2 of the 2014 NHL Draft, Vancouver Canucks forward Linden Vey will be accepting his qualifying offer, his agent Tim Hodgson told Vancouver Sun reporter Brad Zeimer on Monday.

Vey's qualifying offer will be a two-way deal worth $735,000 at the NHL level per capgeek.com. His agent said that his client pushed for a one-way deal, but that it wasn't a major priority since Vey is waiver eligible next season anyway (and surely wouldn't make it through waivers).

Last season, Vey spent the majority of the year with the Kings' top farm team, the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL. The shifty offensive center managed 48 points in 43 games, often centering Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli on one of the AHL's most dangerous forward lines. He also appeared in 18 games with the Kings, managing five assists.

The 22-year-old cut his teeth with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL, a junior team that counts Canucks president Trevor Linden and Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins among their alumni.
