The Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings locked up a piece of their defense corps prior to the start of free agency, signing Jeff Schultz to a two-year contract, as per Helene Elliot of the LA Times.

The 28-year-old signed a one-year deal with the team last summer, and did not play during the regular season after being assigned to the team's AHL affiliate.

Schultz did suit up for seven of the team's games in the postseason, failing to record a point in just under 19 minutes of average ice time.

The 27th overall pick in the 2004 NHL Draft, Schultz has 11 goals and 64 assists in 399 career games.
