Report: Red Wings expect another club to give Dan Boyle more money and term

Bob Stanton-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Red Wings are reportedly focused on upgrading the right-side of their defense this offseason, with pending unrestricted free agent defender Dan Boyle one of their primary targets.

Since the opening of the free agent interview period, the Red Wings have reached out to and spoken with Boyle's camp, and the sense they've been left with is that they'll probably have to look elsewhere. From Detroit Free Press reporter Helene St. James:

The Red Wings are also interested in pending unrestricted free agent defender Matt Niskanen, and may be kicking the tires on big ticket items like Keith Yandle and Tyler Myers on the trade market as well.
