Report: Offers for Spezza aren't good enough to induce Bryan Murray to trade him

The Jason Spezza trade saga heated up over the past month, but with just over 24 hours to go before the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia, Pa. on Friday night, Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray isn't close to consummating a trade.

TVA's Louis Jean, paraphrasing Murray, tweeted Thursday that the Senators are unsatisfied with the current offers that Spezza is generating on the market. It's possible that TSN's Darren Dreger, in an NHL Draft Preview segment on Thursday afternoon, may have filled in some specifics regarding Jean's report:

It's believed that the St. Louis Blues would very much like to acquire Jason Spezza... At one point Patrik Berglund's name was suggested as part of the package, that's certainly not going to get it done. If the Blues are serious and if they definitely want to add Jason Spezza, then they're going to have to better the package and that's a possibility.

While the offers aren't appealing to Murray and the Senators at the moment, Spezza's services are reportedly in high demand - even if the price teams are willing to pay isn't where Ottawa might like it. The Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, and Blues - among others - have all been linked with the Spezza in trade rumors this week.
