PHOTO: Bruins fan memorializes Thornton water bottle spray with misguided tattoo

Sports fans go to great lengths to prove their loyalty to their favorite teams and players, but one Boston Bruins fan took it to the next level with a tattoo 'honoring' Shawn Thornton's water bottle spray on P.K. Subban of the rival Montreal Canadiens during Game 5 of a second-round playoff series back in May.

The tattoo was designed by Charlie Robbins of Sacred Addition Tattoo, and can be seen in all its glory below:

A few things to note:

  1. Montreal ended up winning the series in seven games.
  2. Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins next season.
  3. Subban's helmet appears to be a 1980's Jofa throwback.

As such, it's certainly an interesting choice for a permanent commemoration, considering the Bruins, you know, actually won the Stanley Cup only three years ago. For better or worse, this fan obviously has strong feelings about the incident and didn't want to keep them bottled up.

There's no word yet on how close the cost of the tattoo came to the $2,820.52 fine that Thornton had to pay as a result of the incident.
