Canadiens sign Dale Weise to 2-year extension
The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Dale Weise to a two-year contract extension Tuesday.
The team announced the deal in a release.
"The acquisition of Dale Weise contributed to the success of our team this season," general manager Marc Bergevin said.
The extension has a reported average annual value of $1 million, per TVA's Renaud Lavoie.
"A young veteran with a lot of character, Dale is an intense player with a strong work ethic. We’re very pleased to have him as part of our team moving forward."
Weise was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Raphael Diaz in February.
He scored three goals and added an assist in 17 regular season games with the Canadiens after the trade, but contributed seven points (3 goals and 4 assists) in 16 playoff games.
Weise scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 1 in the Canadiens' first-round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
