The lighter side of the 2014 NHL playoffs

The Los Angeles Kings are once again Stanley Cup champions. Double-overtime rewarded them with their second Cup in three years and Justin "Mr. Game Seven" Williams was named the Conn Smythe winner.

Now that all the initial woo's and woohoo's have left the lungs of the players hoisting the cup, it's time to look back at the postseason that was.

April 16: Marc Bergevin lets loose

Overtime is exciting for everyone involved, but Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin got on his horse and celebrated like cameras would never catch him.

A win in Game 1 got this response out of Bergevin:

April 18: Ty Lawon enjoys overtime as well

The Colorado Avalanche took Game 1 of their first-round series against the Minnesota Wild to overtime and it wasn't Joe Sakic jumping around, but Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson.

April 19: Look out

In Game 2 of the Chicago Blackhawks' first-round series with the St. Louis Blues, Duncan Keith and Patrick Sharp got in each other's way. Their collision at center ice almost allowed a shorthanded goal by Steve Ott.

April 28: Semyon Varlamov's stick gets in the way

The Avalanche held a 3-2 series lead going into Game 6 with the Minnesota Wild and were victim to some bad luck.

Goaltender Semyon Varlamov went into the butterfly position with his stick under his pad creating an underpass for the puck. Oops.

May 5: "He put water in my glove"

During Game 3 of the Anaheim Ducks and Kings series, pest Corey Perry was up to his old tricks. 

During a time stoppage, Perry noticed Jeff Carter left his gloves in a vulnerable position on the bench and filled his glove with water.

June 1: Doughty hits the deck

The Blackhawks forced a Game 7 with the Kings and where else would the game end but in overtime? Alec Martinez scored the winner and Drew Doughty, justifiably so, was fired up.

June 13: Carter and Brown have no teeth

At the end of the Stanley Cup Final, the beards are long and players have taken quite the beating after winning 16 games in order to hoist the cup.

Jeff Carter took a slash to the face in the Western Conference Final against the Blackhawks and lost his two front teeth. Dustin Brown has probably just given up on teeth altogether at this point.

Great hair, full beard, no teeth.

Patchwork beard, hat hair, next to no teeth.

June 14: Logan Couture is sad

The San Jose Sharks held a 3-0 series lead against the Kings in round one. They collapsed and their opponent made their way to the Stanley Cup Final and won.

Sharks forward Logan Couture was feeling pretty terrible about letting the Kings slip by and couldn't help but voice his opinion.
