James Guillory / USA Today

Add Pittsburgh Penguins assistant coach Jacques Martin to the list of potential Carolina Hurricanes head coaches.

Martin coached the St. Louis Blues for two seasons in the 1980s before helming the Ottawa Senators for nearly nine seasons, winning the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's best coach in 1999.

Martin's last two head coaching positions were with the Florida Panthers and the Montreal Canadiens. He was fired by Montreal 32 games into the 2011-12 season.

Martin is 613-481-81 with 119 ties in 1,294 career regular-season games behind the bench. He guided his teams to playoff appearances on 12 separate occasions but never advanced beyond the conference finals, which he reached twice.
