The NHL Stadium Series is reportedly going going, back back, to Cali Cali.

According to CSN's Kevin Kurz the San Jose Sharks "are expected" to host an outdoor game in the Bay Area next season. Kurz, citing multiple sources, suggests that the game will be played either at the ballpark at AT&T Park in San Francisco, or at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, the home of the NFL's 49ers.

San Jose's potential opponent for the NorCal outdoor game will be decided at a later date, Kurz reports.

The San Jose Sharks will host their first outdoor game at the Coors Light Stadium Series against the Los Angeles Kings at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. in February.

The game will be the second outdoor game played in California, as the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings played at Dodger Stadium last season.

Sharks center Logan Couture was hoping for an outdoor game, and was pleased with the league's decision to award Northern California with a stadium series game.

Excited and looking forward to it," he told the San Jose Mercury News via "I've watched most of the outdoor games and have always hoped we would get one."

The Sharks chief operating officer John Tortora was excited by the news as well explaining this game will do more for the organization than the fans.

"The exposure that we're going to get, not only for us but for the city of San Jose, is tremendous...There is a halo effect that happens when you host these games.

"We'll get media exposure across the U.S. and Canada," he said. "That's going to lead to perhaps additional sponsorship, perhaps more season-ticket holders over time, just more general interest in the sport of hockey and the Sharks, which is positive."

NHL confirms outdoor game for Kings and Sharks at Levi's Stadium

The NHL hit a snag in its secretive operation with a Ticketmaster flub Sunday, and announced Wednesday that the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings will play in an outdoor game this season.

The game will be played at Levi's Stadium, the home of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, on February 21 at 10 p.m. ET. The game is part of the Coors Light Stadium Series.

Commissioner Gary Bettman is looking to add to the rivalry that is Californian hockey.

The growing excitement around NHL hockey in California hockey, the intensity of last season's playoff series between these teams and the state-of-the-art setting at Levi's Stadium will bring a thrilling new dimension to the Kings-Sharks rivalry.

On Thursday, a limited number of tickets will be available for sale for Sharks season-ticket holders only (as the Sharks are the home team).

The game will be the first outdoor game in Northern California.

Ticketmaster snafu may have revealed details for Sharks-Kings outdoor game

by Aug 3, 1:02 PM

It's widely believed that the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings will face off in an outdoor game at some point during the 2014-15 regular season, with the Bay Area team playing host to its Southern California rivals.

On Saturday, a Ticketmaster mistake may have tipped the public off to the fact that the game will be played in February at the brand-new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, home to the NFL's 49ers.

A now defunct online link displayed the details, as evidenced in the screen grab below (via Harrison Mooney of Puck Daddy):

As noted by Fear The Fin, AT&T Park - home of the San Francisco Giants - may provide a more picturesque venue, but Levi's Stadium is much closer to the Sharks' home rink, and seats approximately 27,000 more people than the baseball stadium, meaning more gate revenue for the NHL.

An official announcement is expected prior to the start of the regular season.

Report: Sharks, Kings expected to meet in NHL's 2nd outdoor game

by Jun 23, 8:45 AM

The NHL will be decidedly less liberal with its outdoor offerings for the upcoming season, but the league reportedly can't resist building off the momentum in California.

It's expected that the Feb. 21 date between the defending champion Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks will mark the NHL's second outdoor game of the season, per Eric Duhatschek of The Globe and Mail.

The state rivals will have to wait until late February to meet outdoors, but they will get reacquainted quite soon. The Kings will raise their banner in front of the Sharks on opening night.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals will skate to the other (much colder) stadium game this season, partaking in the Winter Classic on New Year's Day.
