Sharks' Couture after series loss to Kings: 'if changes happen with the players, we deserve it'

Kyle Terada / USA TODAY Sports

San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture appeared on 'Hockey Night in Canada Radio' on Wednesday, telling host Rob Pizzo it has "been impossible to watch hockey" since his team lost four games in a row to the Los Angeles Kings after amassing a 3-0 series lead in the first round.

He added "I don't think I will ever get over it."

Couture also said he would not blame management for wanting to make personnel changes in light of the collapse.

As per Capgeek, the team's core forwards  - Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Brent Burns, Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture - are all under contract for anywhere from three to five more seasons, while Marc-Edouard Vlasic is the lone defenseman with a deal that extends past next season. Goaltender Antti Niemi is also under contract for one more season.

Clearly the talent is there, but the Sharks may look to shake things up in an effort to finally get over the hump.

For his part, the 25-year-old Couture scored one goal and added two assists in the playoffs after registering 54 points in 65 games during the regular season, and is clearly taking responsibility for his part in the Sharks' collapse.
