1966 - Henri Richard scores Stanley Cup-winning goal in overtime 

On this day 48 years ago, Henri Richard lived out the dream held by anyone who's ever laced up the skates. 

Richard scored at the 2:20 mark of overtime in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, lifting the Montreal Canadiens over the Detroit Red Wings 3-2. The goal allowed the Canadiens to sip from their second straight championship mug and it was the 14th in the franchise's storied history. 

Seven Cup clinchers have been scored since Richard's tally was the eighth in Stanley Cup Finals history. Patrick Kane, Jason Arnott, and Brett Hull are the most recent players to accomplish the feat.

1974 - Flyers beat Rangers in Game 7, become first expansion team to win a playoff series against an Original 6 franchise 

It took seven years, but on this day in 1974, the Philadelphia Flyers became the first expansion team to beat an Original Six franchise in the postseason when they defeated the New York Rangers in Game 7 of the Semi-Finals. 

The Broad Street Bullies went on to win their first Stanley Cup in their seventh season, overcoming another Original Six team (the Boston Bruins) in the final.

2000 - Joe Sakic scores 100th career playoff point

14 years ago, Joe Sakic recorded the 100th point of his illustrious playoff career in a 4-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. 

The Hall of Fame forward, who scored 188 points in 172 post-season games, is best remembered for his heroics in the second season. He is the NHL's all-time leader in Stanley Cup Playoff overtime goals, with eight on his resume.
