Devils extend ageless NHL legend Jaromir Jagr for one more year

Wednesday was a big day for New Jersey Devils forward, Czech Olympian and surefire first-ballot Hockey Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr. First, he was nominated for the Masterton Trophy by the Professional Hockey Writers Assocation, and in the afternoon he officially put pen to paper on a contract extension with the Devils.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team, but previous reports have indicated that Jagr's new deal will pay him somewhere in the neighborhood of $5-6 million on a one-year contract.

Jagr managed 67 points as a 42-year-old during the 2013-14 NHL season, while leading the Devils in shot attempt differential. Among all NHL forwards who played at least 1000 even-strength minutes, Jagr was 40th in points per sixty minutes, ahead of players like Patrick Marleau, Anze Kopitar, and Jarome Iginla.

Put simply: he's still got it.

UPDATE: Sportsnet's Chris Johnston has the full contract details for Jagr's new one-year contract extension:

So it's a bonus laden $5.5 million one-year contract, with $3.5 million guaranteed.
