Red Wings' Jimmy Howard: Will represent USA at Worlds

Howard will play for USA in the 2017 IIHF World Championship, Helene St. James of freep.com reports.

Analysis:

The 32-year-old backstop only drew 24 starts this season due to a knee injury, but he was impressive with a .927 save percentage and a 2.10 GAA. Although it wasn't close to a full season, it's important to note that this was the best stat line of Howard's career, which means a lot, considering the lack of blue-line help in Detroit this season. Howard will have an opportunity to show his worth on a world stage, which could continue to add substance to rumors that he'll be a Vegas expansion draft pick.
