Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Continuing rehab

Luongo (lower body) will dodge going under the knife, choosing instead to rehab his injury with the goal of returning to the ice in the next month, Craig Davis of the Sun Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

The 38-year-old netminder was sidelined for the final 19 games of the 2016-17 campaign, finishing with 40 appearances -- the third-lowest total in Luongo's 17-season career. While the five-time All-Star may not be the dominant force that he once was as he continues to get older, expect Luongo to remain a reliable backup tender at the very least for the next few seasons.
