Canucks' Jacob Markstrom: Will undergo knee surgery

Markstrom said that he will have surgery on his knee next week, meaning he is very likely out for the rest of the season.

Analysis:

It's somewhat tragic that Markstrom's season will end as a result of a friendly skills competition, but sometimes that's just how it goes in sports. After a hot start to the season in which he won his first three starts with a combined five goals allowed, the 27-year-old keeper was unable to maintain that form -- he failed to win two consecutive games for the rest of the year. He'll rehab his injured knee and look to come back strong for the 2017-18 campaign.
