Red Wings' Jimmy Howard: Backstops tied team to loss
Howard gave up four goals on 32 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes.
Analysis:
Playing in the third game of a rare back-to-back-to-back set due to Monday's makeup tilt against these same Hurricanes, Howard was in the tough position of being behind a tired team, and it showed. Carolina got to Howard early and ended up with 10 more shots on goal than the Wings. So ends his three-game winning streak, but at least Howard should get plenty of rest before his next start; if the recent pattern holds, Petr Mrazek will probably start Thursday in Tampa, followed by Howard at home Saturday against Toronto.
