Penguins' Ron Hainsey: Practices with non-contact jersey

Hainsey (upper body) joined the team for practice Tuesday sporting a non-contact jersey.

Analysis:

While this is certainly a positive stride, his status for Wednesday's matchup with Chicago is still cloudy at best, considering he hasn't been cleared for contact. The irony of the veteran's ailment is that he was specifically brought in due to a lack of depth on the Pens' blue line resulting from injuries. The 36-year-old has logged 10 games in a Pittsburgh sweater, tallying a lone helper, but he's sat out six to this ailment so far. David Warsofsky will likely continue filling in for Hainsey until he's cleared.
