Islanders' Nikolay Kulemin: Night cut short by apparent issue

Kulemin did not come out for the third period in Friday's game against the Penguins. According to Arthur Staple of Newsday, Islanders coach Doug Weight does not believe the forward's issue is "anything serious."

Analysis:

Due to spending two minutes in the box for slashing and then possibly sustaining an injury, Kulemin ended up skating for just 4:42 of ice time. Still, even without the imposing Russian, the Isles came away with a 4-3 shootout win, and that has placed them in a tie with the Bruins for the second wild-card playoff spot out of the Eastern Conference. Consider Kulemin day-to-day with his next chance to return coming Saturday at home against the B's.
