Canucks' Jacob Markstrom: Dealing with food poisoning

Markstrom (lower body), who was already injured, is now suffering from food poisoning and won't travel with the team.

Analysis:

Markstrom has long been considered the heir apparent in Vancouver, but his inability to stay on the ice, combined with inconsistent play, will no doubt have the Canucks brass reconsidering the three-year contract extension they gave the netminder in the offseason. For now, Ryan Miller will continue to serve as the No. 1 option, but don't be surprised to see the reins turned over to Markstrom once he's given the all-clear.
