Capitals' Braden Holtby: Receives starting nod Thursday

Holtby will defend the cage in Thursday's home tilt with Nashville, JJ Regan of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.

Analysis:

After going through a three-game rough patch in which he posted a 5.00 GAA, Holtby turned in an impressive performance against a strong Minnesota team in his last outing, stopping 30 of 32 shots in a 4-2 win. Holtby's skid came in the midst of a four-game losing streak for the Caps, but they look set to return to their winning ways after snapping the streak. In addition, Washington's lineup will be stronger for Thursday's contest, as Kevin Shattenkirk will be returning to the lineup after serving a two-game suspension.
