Avalanche's Calvin Pickard: Gets back in win column

Pickard turned aside 27 of 28 shots in a 3-1 victory Wednesday over the visiting Red Wings.

Analysis:

The game was knotted 1-1 heading into the third period, but J.T. Compher and Carl Soderberg struck for two goals in less than two minutes to hand Pickard his 13th win of the season. He's actually been quite good while starting five consecutive games (three of which were wins), posting a 1.81 GAA and .939 save percentage, so he might be worth deploying Saturday, when the teams meet again in Detroit.
