Kings' Ben Bishop: Ready for first home start with new club

Bishop will patrol the crease Saturday as the home starter versus the Canucks, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.

Analysis:

He'll reportedly be countered by Ryan Miller, who is also going to be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Bishop's tenure as a rental player for the Kings began with a bout of bad luck, as he took a road loss despite yielding only two goals on 30 shots from the Flames through overtime Tuesday. However, in this next start, he's likely to get a standing ovation at the Staples Center based on the fans having a pretty good idea about what he'll bring to the table. Bishop was a 2016 NHL All-Star and even joined LA's No. 1 goalie Jonathan Quick and New Jersey's Cory Schneider for Team USA at the World Cup of Hockey ahead of the 2016-17 campaign. It's clear that Bishop was brought along to help the Kings in their quest for a playoff spot, so expect inspired play out of the 30-year-old as he squares off against a team averaging only 2.19 goals per game on the road this season.
