Blue Jackets' Joonas Korpisalo: Records first NHL shutout

Korpisalo made 24 saves Saturday in his first NHL shutout. It came in a 7-0 win over the Islanders.

Analysis:

Korpisalo sports a 5-1 record this season, but both his GAA and save percentage are bloated. The Jackets rely almost exclusively on Sergei Bobrovsky, but they need to keep him rested for the postseason. Performances like this from Korpisalo might convince the coaching staff that he isn't a liability if they plop him in the paint. If so, he may become valuable in daily matchups.
