Devils' Seth Helgeson: Sent to waiver wire

Helgeson was waived by the Devils on Friday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.

Analysis:

The Devils are yielding 31.4 shots per game this season to the detriment of starting goalie Cory Schneider, so it's no surprise to see a bit of a shakeup on the blue line. Helgeson has found a second home in the press box, appearing in just nine games this campaign, so he may be hoping for another team to scoop him up. Otherwise, the third-year defender likely would take a step back by toiling in the minors with AHL Albany.
