Canadiens' Greg Pateryn: Being shopped by Habs

Pateryn was in the active lineup Tuesday after Montreal general manager Marc Bergevin let it be known the defenseman is available, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports. He had one shot on goal, two blocked shots and five hits over 13:04 of ice time on the third defensive pair.

Analysis:

Pateryn, who had been a regular healthy scratch since Montreal acquired Nikita Nesterov, got caught up in in a social-media imbroglio involving his wife, who tweeted an uncomplimentary assessment of Montreal's past and present coaches. The incident has motivated the organization to move the 26-year-old blueliner, so his presence in the lineup Wednesday can be considered a showcase. Pateryn was never a favorite of former coach Michel Therrien, and his status didn't change when Claude Julien was hired.
