Sabres' Zemgus Girgensons: Comes off IR
Girgensons (mid-body) has been activated from IR and will play Saturday against Colorado.
Analysis:
Girgensons has missed the past seven games due to what head coach Dan Bylsma called an "internal mid-body" injury. His play had begun to pick up before he suffered the injury, as he was skating between 15 and to 19 minutes per night -- much higher than his season average of 13:19. While his offensive production is still lacking, Girgensons is a versatile player who's simply going through some growing pains. Keep in mind that he's just 23 years old and that his two-way game is highly developed relative to his peers. He'll likely center the Sabres' third line upon his return.
