Avalanche's Erik Johnson: Practices for first time since injury

Johnson took part in practice Monday for the first time since breaking his leg Dec. 3, the Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

Unfortunately, fellow Avs blueliner Nikita Zadorov broke his ankle during the same practice and is done for the year, which pretty much sums up how bad Colorado's luck has been this season. Johnson donned a red no-contact sweater but otherwise took drills at full speed, so there's a chance he could return later in the week -- potentially at Nashville on Thursday or at home Saturday versus the Sabres.
