Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Gets call-up to NHL

Vrana was summoned to the parent club from AHL Hershey on Friday.

Analysis:

A highly touted prospect hailing from the Czech Republic, Vrana has two years remaining on his entry-level contract. The 20-year-old is in a bit of a unique situation, as he didn't play in any NHL games for the first two years of his ELC, thus he was given an "entry-level slide," meaning his NHL salary of $925,000 hadn't kicked in until this season. The 13th overall pick of the 2014 draft is a dual threat in the sense that he can score and set up goals aplomb, but he hasn't appeared in an NHL game since Dec. 27 and needs consistent ice time to garner attention outside of keeper and dynasty leagues. He just might get that opportunity with Andre Burakovsky (hand) out until mid-March at the earliest.
